Invitation to Speak at ANSWER Coalition Demonstration |
| Dear John Boyd, We are writing to invite you to speak at the ANSWER Coalition’s Counter Inaugural Demonstration at 4th st and Pennsylvania Ave, in Washington DC. This demonstration will take place on the day of the Presidential Inauguration- Thursday, January 20th and for this rally the ANSWER coalition has secured anti-war bleachers with a stage and sound, along the inaugural parade route. We are expecting thousands of people from all over the country to travel to Washington DC on that day to take part in this demonstration. We have worked hard on securing a spot on the inaugural route in order to bring the Bush Administration face to face with the people of the United States who stand in opposition to his policies, at home and abroad. And so it is important to us that the speakers for this demonstration represent those directly affected by the policies of the Bush Administration. So we are inviting the mothers and fathers of soldiers who oppose the war; those in the Muslim and Arab communities whose families have been ripped apart through raids, detentions, and secret hearings; representatives of the working class communities in Washington, DC and elsewhere who are suffering because of the destruction of social programs; we will hear the voices of the people of Haiti and the Philippines and Korea who are living under U.S. military intervention and occupation. We have already heard from Ramsey Clark, Ron Kovic, Michael Berg, Ed Asner and many more supporting this rally. We hope that you will add your voice to this powerful demonstration. We will assemble at John Marshall Park, which is located at 4th st and Pennsylvania Ave, beginning at 9:00am. It is important that the speakers arrive between 9:00 and 10:00am. The rally will go from 9am to 2:30pm. You will have approximately 5 minutes to address the demonstration. If you have questions or concerns about this orientation, don't hesitate to contact us.
