Invitation to Speak at National Black Caucus of State Legislators
Mr. John Boyd
President
National Black Farmers Association

Dear Mr. Boyd:

The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) will hold its 28th Annual Legislative Conference November 29 to December 3, 2004 in Philadelphia. This year's theme is Ensuring Liberty & Justice for All.

On behalf of Rep. Thomas Jackson, chair of the Committee on Agriculture, I am writing to invite you to participate in the policy session focusing on efforts to get compensation for black farmers whose claims were denied under Pigford v. Veneman. As you know, NBCSL passed a resolution in support of black farmers at its last legislative conference.

The session will be held on Wednesday, December 1, from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m., at the Wyndham Hotel at Franklin Plaza. Speakers are asked to limit their presentations to five to seven minutes. An interactive discussion with state legislators will follow the formal presentations.

If you have any questions, I can be reached via e-mail or by phone at 718 369 6059. I hope you will accept our invitation to participate in this timely and important discussion.

Sincerely,

Faye M. Anderson
NBCSL Policy Consultant
